Installation

Over The Air Install To install directly onto your mobile phone simply visit http://m.pinpointgps.co.uk from your Blackberry browser.

The software consists of two files: PinPointGPS.alx and PinPointGPS.cod

To complete installation, connect your BlackBerry to your desktop as you normally do to sync. Launch the BlackBerry Desktop and select the Application Loader. Follow the instructions to install an application. During the process you will need to locate and select PinPointGPS.alx from wherever it was placed.

You can also install any course files that you have obtained. These should be placed in a folder called “PPGPS” somewhere on the device (typically on a media card) and they will have the suffix “.pgc”. This can be achieved in a variety of ways including moving them directly onto the media card through a file manager. You may add others later in the same way, or share them with your friends.

Depending on the security settings for your device, you will probably have to enable the applications permissions. Go to BlackBerry Options > Security Options > Application Permissions - select the application and Edit Permissions. It will be necessary to allow GPS and File access and it may be necessary to restart the device. Alternatively, run PinPointGPS and answer all the questions asked about Application Permissions affirmatively. If available, check any options ensuring the questions will not be asked again.

In order for PinPointGPS to operate there must be a GPS device available. This may be built-in or available externally, possibly through a Bluetooth connection. Please see your device’s manual for instructions.

On your handheld, find the PinPointGPS application and launch. It may be found in the Applications folder.

If the application can’t find any courses, it will offer you a selection of valid folders to use for their location. You will need to select one. PinPointGPS will then ask you to either create a new course or (if you have already installed one or more) to select an existing course to use.
